Recently while researching, Lice-Nil team came across a news from New York Times that had a study published on lice and super lice. The implications of lice infection in majority of states in America are severe with a lot of stigmatisation surrounding it. More than lice, the super lice that are resistant to pyrethroids and the nits are termed as more dangerous.

Nits are trickier than lice because they cannot be removed by brushing or shaking the head - they must be killed and removed. Itching, caused by sensitization to the saliva, may not start until four to six weeks after a first infestation, resulting in increase in the number of lice and nits both.

Stay Away From Mayonnaise
There are several head lice treatment myths floating around the web. One of them is mayonnaise. But, it is unnecessarily messy and has not been medically proven as a cure for head lice. If the thought of putting mayonnaise in your child’s hair has crossed your mind, do read the section below.

According to New York Times,
“Although the Internet is replete with home remedies which can be effective with diligent use, none have been evaluated for safety and effectiveness by the Food and Drug Administration.
An 18-month-old girl died in February when her caretaker applied mayonnaise to the child’s scalp and covered it with a plastic bag. The child was left unattended, the bag slid over her face, and she suffocated, said a reviewer for NEJM Journal Watch.”

How Lice-Nil removes Lice, Super Lice and Nits:
So far this year, super lice have been reported in 48 states, and make up 97% of the head lice cases in Canada.  Lice and Nits have been treated by pyrethroids for long resulting in their resistance against the chemical.
Lice-Nil on other hand, is completely natural and chemical free, made from Neem extract, coconut and tea-tree oils.
